Mix Mix Fold, un Galaxy Z Fold 2 signé Xiaomi ?
Xiaomi’s new foldable Mi Mix Fold smartphone offers a design very close to that of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 launched in 2020 by the Korean manufacturer. The device is equipped with a 8.01 inch diagonal screen when open with WQHD + definition (2480 x 1860 pixels).
It opens like a book thanks to a vertical axis and also offers the support of the HDR10+ and DolbyVision. There is also a external display allowing certain applications to be used even when the folding screen is closed. AMOLED type, its diagonal is 6.52 inches and displays a definition of 2520 x 840 pixels, but also a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
A very muscular technical sheet
In addition to its screen, the Mi Mix Fold offers a technical sheet very similar to that found for example on the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. The terminal ships the same SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. This very high-end CPU also equips other high-end smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi 11 and Mi 11 Ultra.
If its design is strongly inspired by the foldable smartphone from Samsung, the Mi Mix Fold is more innovative by offering a host of features absent from the Galaxy Z Fold 2. We can for example cite the Surge C1 graphics chip. Designed by Xiaomi, it aims to take care of image processing.
On this subject, the Chinese manufacturer explains in a press release: “ Mi Mix Fold launches the Surge C1 processor – a professional image processing chip developed by Xiaomi. The result of two years of development and an R & D investment of 140 million RMB (editor’s note, more than 18 million euros), this chip offers exceptionally high performance while taking up a small processor and storage space. This allows it to handle an improved 3A algorithm and low-light focusing capabilities for more precise autofocus, autoexposure and auto white balance, dramatically improving image quality. »
The surprises don’t end here. Introducing #SurgeC1, our first image signal processor. This helps process faster auto focus, better white balance and higher dynamic range, providing you a professional-level photography experience. #MiMIXFOLD #XiaomiMegaLaunch pic.twitter.com/YOmfL8y6zZ

The photo in the spotlight
Another major novelty introduced by Xiaomi on its Mi Mix Fold is the liquid lens. Kesaco? Xiaomi explains: “ Liquid lens uses the principle of human eye bionics, forming a lens-like structure with transparent fluid wrapped in film, very different from traditional optical lenses. The radius of curvature of the spherical surface can be changed with precision thanks to a high-precision motor based on the technology developed by Xiaomi, which enables 3X optical zoom, telephoto up to 30X and a minimum focus distance of 3 cm. One lens practically covers the functions of two lenses. »
The terminal has a 108-megapixel wide-angle main sensor (1 / 1.52 ″, 2.1 µm pixels after pixel-binning), a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and an 8-megapixel macro (3x optical zoom, 80 mm equivalent) . The new Mi Mix Fold therefore intends to make a place for itself among the best cameras on the market.
The device has a battery with a capacity of 5020 mAh Can be charged to 100% in 37 minutes with 65W fast charging. Finally, we will have to wait a little longer to see it arrive in our regions. The Mix Mix Fold is currently only marketed in China. Its equivalent price in euros would be 1,300 euros for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, 1,425 euros for the variant with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, and 1,685 euros for the model with 16 GB of storage. RAM and 512 GB of storage.
