The French FFSA Tourism Championship takes off in Nogaro!

Press release :

Attending a birth is always an emotional moment. In the case of the French FFSA Tourism Championship, the Nogaro Easter Cups will therefore constitute a historic moment after long months of intensive preparation. Even in this period made complicated by the health crisis, SRO Motorsports Group has stood firm against all odds. With more than 20 cars on the entry list for the opening meeting, the baby is doing well and we are delighted to hear the first cries of the engines in the Gers countryside.

Along the Nogaro aerodrome, the French FFSA Tourism Championship will therefore take off with three distinct categories: the TC (i.e. cars of around 300 horsepower), the TCA (around 200 horsepower) and the TCA Light ( 150 horses approximately). In each class, a Performance Balance will aim to balance the different models engaged, thus giving all competitors the same chances of success.

Both on Saturday April 4 and Easter Monday, a morning qualifying session will determine the starting grid for the races, scheduled for Sunday at 4:15 p.m. and Monday at 5:00 p.m. These two 30-minute confrontations can be followed live on the GT World YouTube channel and on the FFSA Tourism Facebook page.

TC: BMW, Peugeot and Alpine for a first fireworks display

Queen category of the French FFSA Tourism Championship, the TC class will see three different brands compete at Nogaro. The entry list includes six Peugeot 308 RCs, four BMW M2 CS Racing and one Alpine A110 Cup. Each having their own characteristics, with their strengths and weaknesses, these three models should guarantee lively races.

On the side of the lionesses, we will find former leaders of the Peugeot Cups with in particular the Northerner Florian Briché, 2019 Junior champion of the 308 Racing Cup and who will lead the JSB Competition delegation. With the Belgian Frédéric Caprasse, also ex-driver of the Cup, he will have a good reference internally. Still at JSB, we will also be watching Pierre Arnaud Navarro.

Kevin Ropars will be present with his own team (the Ropars Racing Team-Motors Legend) and ex-308 Cup driver Xavier Guyonnet will defend the interests of TSM Racing by GM Sport. The last 308 RC entered will be that of Pierre-Hugo Dubost, who will represent Chazel Technologie Course. The reamer structure is also the only one, for the moment, to trust the Alpine A110 Cup. The 24-year-old Montpellier driver Lucas Frayssinet is nevertheless a solid outsider!

Facing the French cars, four BMW M2 CS Racing also intend to play the leading roles. They will be able to count on a few references behind the wheel, starting with the Dutchman Ricardo van der Ende. Former European GT4 Champion and French FFSA GT Champion in the Silver Cup, the Espace Bienvenue driver is one of the favorites. On the same frame, but aligned by VSF Sports – Amplitude automobile, Steven Palette can challenge this status. Champion of the Silver Cup in Sprint in the GT World Challenge Europe last year, Steven will have several hats: driver, sporting director and… coach for his young teammate, Lucca Brizzi. At only 16, he starts at the national level and he will have everything to learn. The remark is also valid for the only female of the peloton, the young Carla Debard. Éric’s daughter, French FFSA GT Champion in 2009, will defend the interests of the Debard Automobiles By Racetivity team. This horse-riding fanatic has found in the FFSA Tourism the ideal platform to make her real debut in motorsport.

TCA and TCA Light: uncertainty is in order

While there will be real references with an international or national track record in TC, the TCA and TCA Light categories perfectly fulfill their mission as the gateway to the French FFSA Circuits Championship with more affordable budgets. The TCA class will thus see the Peugeot RCZ Racing Cup and Renault Clio Cup of the 4th generation compete against each other. The Espace Racing team will field three lionesses for Jonathan Boutboul, Christian Philippon and the Dorian Duthil-Julien Nougaret pair, the latter sharing the same car under the CAP Racing by ESPACE Racing banner. With Florian Grizaud (GPA Racing) and Julien Jacob-Cano (Runner For Ever), two other drivers hope to make the Peugeot RCZ Racing Cup shine.

In front of them, two Clio Cup IVs will be in the game. The first for the young 16-year-old driver Enzo Carvalhido (Sport Auto Racing) and another for the FFSA GT driver Guillaume Maio, who will share his GM Sport team’s Clio with Julien Carli.

In TCA Light, three Peugeot 208 RCs will be entered by the Ropars Racing Team-Motors Legend. The fight on equal terms between Jonas Venier, Sacha Maguet and Viny Beltramelli also promises to be interesting to follow.

In this very special period, several drivers have expressed their interest in the French FFSA Tourism Championship rather late in the day and some surprises could still fall. No doubt, this Tourism FFSA is well underway!
