In the first quarter of 2021, according to AAA Data, the French automobile market for passenger cars shows an increase of + 21.15% compared to the same period last year for a total of 444,791 units sold. Obviously this increase is not significant compared to a period which saw the collapse of the market during the first French confinement in March 2020.
-20.15% compared to the first quarter of 2019
On the other hand, if we refer to the last stable reference period for the automotive market: the year 2019, registrations are actually down 20.15% compared to the first quarter of 2019.
If we continue this analysis compared to the year 2019, sales by channel show a significant drop in tactical sales which had reached new heights in recent years, making it a full-fledged sales channel.
The demonstration vehicle channel thus recorded a drop of -9.57% compared to 2019 for a total of 77,939 units and a market share of 17.64%.
Short-term rental companies also remain at a historically low level with a drop of -1.48% during the first quarter of 2021 for a market share of 12.50%.
It should be noted that the individual market shows a decline of -25.60% during this first quarter of 2021, still in reference to the period 2019.
