As revealed by the UGT-Fica union, the president of Mercedes-Benz Retail told employees that the group intended to sell almost all of its branches in Spain, i.e. 11 major sites.
In order to ” reduce costs and rearrange the footprint of its commercial distribution Mercedes-Benz intends to put its branches in Spain up for sale. There are 11 sites, 6 in the Madrid region, 4 in the community of Valencia and 1 in Guadalajara, in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. Only the Pinto (Madrid) truck and van center would remain a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz España Trucks, SAU.
Requested by the German headquarters in Stuttgart, the operation could take effect as early as the month of mars 2022. Employee representatives warn that the subsidiaries represent some 700 employees, including the 110 in the Pinto center. The unions therefore asked to be received by Roland Schell, president of Mercedes-Benz Iberia, to talk about the future.
A priori, Mercedes-Benz is not looking to shut down sites, but to sell them to selected partners. For the Miralcampo (Guadalajara) and Quart (Valencian Community) sites, negotiations are already well advanced.
