That has just presented the first model of its new generation of 100% electric cars. Baptized EV6, this crossover is based on the new specific platform E-GMP. It represents an important step for the brand, in terms of technology and design. It symbolizes the transformation of the firm, announced recently. Everything is therefore new on this vehicle, starting with its lines. Based on “The alliance of opposites”, this language associates “Sophisticated and high-tech stylistic elements with rich and refined volumes” as described Karim Habib, vice president and head of design for Kia. Like many electric vehicles, this model has a specious and modular interior, thanks to the presence of the batteries under the floor. A large curved screen marks the dashboard in modernity.
Two or four wheel drive
The E-GMP platform allows great modularity and standardization which make it possible to offer very different levels of performance on the same model. Thus, the EV6 is available in several levels of finishes and engines. The version EV6 GT thus adopt two electric motors with a total power of 430 kW (584 chevaux), for a couple of 740 Nm. The brand announces a time of 3.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h. “The GT version of Kia EV6 demonstrates our technological advance by combining exceptional high-speed charging capacity and acceleration performance worthy of a super GT” Explain Albert Biermann, president and R&D director of Hyundai Motor Group. To meet the expectations of customers with less performance requirements, the EV6 is also available in two-wheel drive version. The latter is then limited to a single 168 kW (229 hp) engine. A intermediate version adopt them four-wheel drive and two motors, for a total power of 239 kW (325 chevaux). All these versions have a drums from 77,4 kWh, given for an autonomy of 510 km in the WLTP combined cycle for the two-wheel drive model.
Recharge in 400 and 800V
This new generation of electric Kia has charging capacities of 400 and 800V without specific adapter. The brand announces a refill of 10 to 80% of the battery in 18 minutes. The two-wheel drive version is therefore able to win 100 km of autonomy in 4 and a half minutes according to Kia. The integrated charge control module (ICCU) also allows the reverse charge, in order to redistribute electricity to the outside of the vehicle.
The vehicle also has driving assistance systems such as driving assistance in traffic jams and level 2 motorway driving assistance.remote parking aid allows the driver to park his car by controlling it from the outside, for example to take advantage of a narrow space. The occupants will be able to benefit from other on-board systems, particularly in terms of infotainment. Customers can already book their model online, on the website of Kia france, from 47 990 euros, for marketing planned for second semestre 2021.
