Eighth in the recent Bahrain Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz admits that he still has to get used to driving his Ferrari.
Carlos Sainz contested his first Grand Prix in the colors of Scuderia Ferrari last weekend in Bahrain. Predicted by his team-mate Charles Leclerc both in qualifying and in the race, the Spanish driver admits that he is not yet completely confident behind the wheel of his Ferrari.
« It was very important for me to finish the race and to continue to gain experience with the car., emphasizes Sainz. Maybe that’s the reason why this time around I didn’t take too many risks at the start and it cost me a few positions. »
« I was curious to see how the car would react in the aero disturbances during a Grand Prix start and I knew that I would have the opportunity to move up in the hierarchy and regain places once I was in my pace. »
« When the situation stabilized, I started to attack right after the lap and I think we showed a very sustained pace with the medium tire and especially with the hard tire during the last stint. »
« I also managed to do some good overtaking. I am therefore happy with the work accomplished throughout the weekend. Ferrari wants more, and I want more. But it is a promising start and we will continue to give our all to make it happen. »
