Cycling is becoming more democratic on Reunion Island


The community has placed an order for 900 Electrically Assisted Bicycles (VAE) via UGAP. It thus hopes to promote clean and active trips through its Altervélo rental system.

This summer, the Intercommunal Community of Solidarity Cities of the East Coast of Reunion Island (CIVIS) will have a fleet of more than 900 electric-assisted bicycles. This order, placed withUGAP, is destined to come enrich the Altervélo offer, a rental service for e-bikes, bicycles and scooters. For the community, which thus hopes promote clean and active travel, it is ” convince its citizens to test a new mode of travel, whether or not it complements the existing offer or not ».

« These orders and deliveries have been staggered since December 2019 . We were able to keep our commitments thanks to the seriousness of our holder Arcades Cycles, recognized in the world of electrically assisted bicycles. On the strength of this neighboring experience, the Agglomeration Community of the Territory of the West Coast of Reunion Island (TCO) called on UGAP at the end of December 2020 for an order of 125 bikes. The start of another adventure?
